Horizon is beautifully situated away from the hurly-burly of downtown Carmel while only a few minutes away on foot. Pam met us at check-in and was warm and informative. We enjoyed the happy hour of local wines and cheeses, the roominess of our room, the gas fireplace, ceiling fan, multiple mirrors, and great shower. The robes were stylish but polyester and too warm. There was also excellent available parking and a small hot tub for a good soak. The bedding was elegant. We had a hard time, though, adjusting to the pillows--either too big or too small and soft. We thought the window was locked in place but later figured out that it was merely stuck (Room 112). Overall, highly recommended.

This is a nice 3 star cozy, family owned hotel in a nice location in Carmel. Everyone at the front desk had great customer service, the happy hour was great with wine, cheese, cracker and grapes. The fire pit and sitting place with the ice machine and a water machine were a plus. The breakfast gets delivered every morning by 8:30 or so with a continental breakfast - could be better but had some fruit. It was nice to have a good size refrigerator and a kitchenette, as we went to the nearby grocery store and bought some food for breakfast and snacking. The room was large enough, but the way to the bathroom was in a narrow cramped opening by one of the beds so that was a bit inconvenient. My one suggestion to the management would be to purchase some new, better pillows to improve the sleep quality. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at the horizon Inn and suites in Carmel by the sea! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are well-maintained. We enjoyed the daily wine and cheese in the lobby starting at 4 PM and getting to know other guests. We also enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. The room was comfortable, although a little bit dated, but that didn’t bother us. The breakfast was served in a basket each morning at our door and was usually nice sweet rolls, croissants, or scones plus fruit, Keurig, coffee, cups, juice, and fresh fruit.

This was our second visit to Horizon Inn and they did not disappoint! Upon our arrival which was late we noticed some issues with our room that we shared with them the next morning. While we were out that day they upgraded us at no charge to a beautiful room for our inconvenience so when we got home we moved and all was well. They were responsive and truly CARED which you do not always get at other places. The staff and owners are very kind and care about their guests. We loved the morning breakfast basket and the evening wine time. Thank you Horizon inn! We will be back!

On the very outskirts of town - about a 15 minute walk. We stayed in the Annex. Heater was an old manual wall model. It heated the room well, but it was basically on or off. Lighting in bathroom was insufficient for putting on makeup. Breakfast delivered to door was okay - granola, fresh fruit and a pastry one day and bagels, fresh fruit and yogurt the next.

It's a special place with friendly and helpful staff. The continental breakfasts are an added treat and if you're okay to walk, the leisurely walk to the shops, restaurants and beach is pleasurable. Very good value and a place worth staying time and time again!
